Illumination Controller - 中央精機株式会社
I have this illumination controller. There's nothing particularly special about it, as far as I can tell it’s just a transformer and a variable resistor, used to form a voltage divider with the incandescent bulb it would be controlling:
It can with a very simple optical microscope which was used with a scanning probe system as an inspection microscope to be used when attaching new tips.
It’s nothing very special…
Based on the SPM it came with I suspect it was made in the 1980s… I assume from a design unchanged since the 60s or 70s…
There’s nothing much to say about it. Other than that it’s a simple design, well executed. Oh and it uses JIS screws (as evidenced by the little dots):
Everything here must have been hand assembled. And the end result is neat, inside and out.
